The Government of Rwanda and the United Arab Emirates signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of education with the aim to bolster educational exchanges.

This cooperation was signed on March 7th by Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Vincent Biruta and Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

In the morning, Minister Dr. Vincent Biruta and State Minister Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi co-chaired the 1st Session of the Joint Committee for Cooperation between Rwanda and the United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Vincent Biruta, during his remarks, stated that through this partnership, they aim to bolster educational exchanges, research collaborations, and capacity building, laying down the foundations for a future where the youth can thrive in a globalized world.

Apart from that signed memorandum of understanding, in the afternoon at Urugwiro Village, President Paul Kagame met with H.E. Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, for discussions on further strengthening collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The two countries already have relations and cooperation in the fields of education where various opportunities are given to Rwandan students to study in the United Arab Emirates, with 20 going in 2018 and 10 in 2019.

Rwanda and the United Arab Emirates are also cooperating in other areas, including investment, trade, tourism, air transport, political and military consultancy, and diplomacy because both countries now have ambassadors representing them in each.
